Recently, I acquired a car. I love driving round in it but there has been one noticable problem. That being that the tilt handle for the driver-side seat has been snapped off by the previous owner.
Although this hasn't been too much of a deal (for reference the passenger-side seat is fine), it has been something that has been plaguing my mind to repair.
Due to this, I, of course, went onto try and repair the thing. Ordering a new tilt handle was quite cheap, in fact I was able to get a spare handle for passenger-side bundled in for under 10 pounds.
Now, this wouldn't be much of a misadventure if the repair went well.
After spending what felt like over 30 minutes trying to get the old handle off, and then another 10 minutes of getting the seat to tilt with the exposed wire, it took me around a minute to break the new part.
Frustrated, I gave up for the day, with no way to repair the new part that I acquired. Ordering a more expensive tilt handle that I felt would work better for the quality.
The next day was spent partially waiting for a new handle, it took me until later in the afternoon to realise that the part wasn't coming until the day after.
The day after, I waited again until the delivery period, getting to the delivery period I found out that it had been delayed for a few hours later. This meant that I wouldn't be able to repair the part for the day as I was going to be on my shift.
Today, after gaining the new handle the previous evening, I went onto try and repair the seat again.
Having removed the original handle before, all I had to do was pull the wire so that I could tilt the chair.
With the chair tilted, I tried putting on the new handle. Getting to a point where I felt that the new handle was in, I put the seat back into position. When I tilted it back, the handle would not trigger the wire to be pulled.
Feeling that the new handle should be reseated, I removed the handle. To my dismay, the mounting area for the handle partially snapped off, due to this I now have no way of repair the chair without getting a replacement chair.
Ending this with money wasted and a chair that will not tilt. On the brighter side though, I at least have the new handle to cover the exposed mount area in the chair so it all looks neat and tidy.
I hope you have a good week, Java Reni
