2025/08/13: Botches, Repairs and Upgrades

It's been a bumpy but expect start with the car. But all in all, a learning experience.

In a previous blog, I mentioned me having a misadventure in repairing my driver's seat. Lately, I found out a feasible solution that I implemented to still have the ability to tilt the seat when needed.

Initially, how the seat tilt works is that it has a wire that goes through the seat up to the handle area. When you pull the handle it pulls the cable.

What I did was, through the help of reddit (reddit, 2025), I attached a large ziptie under the the hammer of the wire inwhich I looped a shoelace into, leaving the shoelace to act like a botched handle.

Another thing that I want to talk about is the problems and repairs that arrised between from when I got the car and now. A big issue that the vehicle faced was that the battery went flat.

Initially I wanted to charge the battery, which I did just to see that the battery was at fault (which it was) but talking to others, I figured that a replacement would have been better for the long run.

Replacing the battery was a lot easier than I thought it would, it was a simple swap in and out. Doing this though, caused another problem, it reset my radio.

Luckily I got the serial number for the radio, so getting the passcode was simple. I won't share how I did it but I believe if you give it a simple websearch, you'll figure out how.

Something else that was a quick and easy fix was clearing the fogging on the headlights, not to say the fogging was bad but clearing it made the appearance 100 times better.

The lastest repair that I did was to the cigar port. This wasn't a largely neccessary repair but I felt that it was best to get it out of the way.

Searching around the car, I figured out that the fuse blew, so a quick order and I was able to get the port back up and running.

The last thing that I want to talk about are the small upgrades that I made to the car.

Something that I wanted to do is that I wanted to add some small personalisations to the car, so I added some pink elements to it.

I gave it some new mats, seat belt covers and a steering wheel cover. The only one I wasn't initally a huge fan of was the steering wheel cover as it made the wheel feel bulkier than what it was but after a drive, I so adapted to it.

The next thing that I will do with the car is that I want to add in a dashcam that I recently brought (which currently needs an SD card) and I also want to get some UV spray so that the headlights won't fog up again.

At some point, I also want to get a mount for a fire extinguisher and I also want to replace the radio so that I have something that is bluetooth compatible.
